The students are working on definitions for their chapter test (which, incidentally, has been moved to Monday, October 2nd), and these are the words they&#8217;ve added:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>sign<\/em> &#8211; something that points the way<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>sacrament<\/em> &#8211; a visible and effective sign, given to us by Christ, through which we share in God&#8217;s grace<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>Sacred Scripture<\/em> &#8211; &#8220;holy writing&#8221;; the written story of God&#8217;s plan; the inspired word of God; another name for the Bible<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>lectionary<\/em> &#8211; the official liturgical book that contains the Scripture readings assigned to the various days of the Church year<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>anamnesis<\/em> &#8211; the liturgical act of remembering<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\"><em>presence<\/em> &#8211; literally means &#8220;to be before one&#8221; &#8211; that is, to be here<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"justify\">We also talked about the different ways that Jesus is really and truly present in every act of liturgy (every sacrmamental celebration and every celebration of Mass):<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>in the person of the priest<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\">in the gathered community<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\">in the proclamation of Scripture<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li>\n<div align=\"justify\">in the bread and wine of the Eucharist<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div align=\"justify\">As a side note, students in 7th grade have begun work on their Gala project. Each student is painting a wooden cross (approx. 3&#8243; x 4&#8243;), and the crosses will be attached to canvas stretched over wooden frames to form a triptych.
